Applicants will also be expected to participate in scholarly activities (such as research, publishing, and presenting at conferences), and engage in service to the discipline, department, college, and the University. Additional teaching or other responsibilities may be available over the summer/winterim depending on program, college, or university needs and the interest of the selected candidate.

Other responsibilities include:

  • Collaborating with students and faculty on academic, research, and program-related activities.
  • Academic advising.
  • Contribute to curriculum development and assessment reports.
  • Other duties as assigned by the Department Chair.

Required Qualifications:

The Platteville campus is located in Southwest Wisconsin's largest community, which has a rich history rooted in mining —particularly lead mining —dating back to the early 19th century. The region offers excellent school systems, high-quality medical and hospital facilities, outstanding recreational opportunities, and vibrant businesses and industries. UW-Platteville serves as a cultural and educational center for the Tri-State region of Illinois, Iowa, and Wisconsin.

  • Sample syllabi (introductory and upper division sociology courses).
